José Negro (Arrigorriaga, Spain, 1973) began his love affair with photography in the 1980s with a Yashica Minister D that he would sneak out of his father’s closet and which, during his teenage years, seemed to him the most magical device he had ever encountered. While at university, he studied photography, and ever since then, a camera has always been by his side.
He has developed his photographic work in close connection with his career as an architect and has explored various facets of photography.
In 2018, his path crossed with Master Aaron Sosa, and he began researching photography as a medium for visual storytelling, gradually leading him toward documentary and essay-based work.
In 2018, he created the documentary project “Sólo por un dólar” (“Just for One Dollar”) at a school in rural Uruguay, documenting its daily life over several months. The project culminated in a photographic exhibition at the school and three audiovisual works. In 2019, he joined Aaron Sosa’s IMAGO group.
In 2020, he continued his training with Master Aaron Sosa, complementing it with studies under Alex Webb and Rebecca Norris Webb, as part of his ongoing search for his own photographic language.

The tutoring program consists of a 5-hour package, which can be scheduled according to each participant’s needs. The hours may be divided into two 2-hour sessions and one 1-hour session, five 1-hour sessions, or any other combination that best suits the participant.
Dates and times will be arranged by mutual agreement.
Each session may be recorded for later review.
